Breakout sessions:
High School Planning and Support: Do you have a current High School student or are looking ahead at what the High School experience at Heartland looks like? Join us at the High School Planning and Support breakout session where you will hear from a Heartland High School Counselor and an HST/parent. We will share the framework of our High School program, options for curriculum, tips and tricks for planning and scheduling, and information on concurrent enrollment with local Community Colleges. This breakout session will leave you feeling encouraged and more equipped to support your homeschool child through the final four years of their homeschool journey.
Making Math Fun! Are you looking for ways to teach math to your student(s) in engaging ways? Do you find yourself or your student frustrated with teaching or learning math? Join us at the Making Math Fun: Math Teaching Strategies breakout session to learn multiple teaching strategies that you can use when teaching math. We will discuss different strategies for teaching students various math concepts from TK to 8th grade. You will not only hear about some of the strategies, but we will also invite you to join us and participate in a couple of our favorite activities (one for younger students and one for older students). We will provide a list of resources and activities that you can use with your student/s to help make teaching and learning math fun.
Supporting Student Writers: Do you want your students to be confident, capable writers, but aren't sure how to lead them there? Do you want your writing and teaching experience to be more positive? Join us at the Supporting Student Writers breakout session as we demystify the process of teaching writing. We will practice turning writing curriculum into positive experiences that will strengthen your budding writer, and maybe even your relationship with your student.
Google Suite for Homeschooling: Empowering Your Child's Learning: Are you looking for ways to simplify and enrich your homeschool experience? Join us at the Google Suite for Homeschooling breakout session, where you’ll connect with other homeschooling parents and discover how Google Suite can be a game-changer for organizing your child’s learning! We’ll explore practical, everyday uses of Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Docs, Keep, and Classroom tailored specifically for homeschoolers. Walk away with easy-to-use tools, ideas for creating a smooth workflow, and tips to help your child stay on track. This breakout session will inspire new ways to support your homeschool journey.
