Tehachapi Science Fair-Heartland Charter School

We are excited to invite you to the first annual Tehachapi Science Fair for Heartland Charter School! This event is a wonderful opportunity for your students to showcase their creativity, curiosity, and scientific understanding.

Science Fair Project Requirements

1. Project Topic:

● Choose a scientific question or problem that interests you. Ensure it’s clear, focused, and appropriate for your grade level.

2. Research:

● Conduct background research related to your topic. Use credible sources and take notes on key concepts.

3. Hypothesis:

● Formulate a testable hypothesis that predicts the outcome of your experiment.

4. Experimental Design:

● Plan your experiment carefully. Include:

○ Materials needed

○ Step-by-step procedure

○ Variables (independent, dependent, and controlled)

5. Data Collection:

● Collect data during your experiment. Use tables, graphs, or charts to organize your findings.

6. Analysis:

● Analyze your data and determine whether your results support your hypothesis. Consider any patterns or trends.

7. Conclusion:

● Write a conclusion summarizing your findings. Discuss any errors, limitations, and possible

future research.

8. Presentation:

● Prepare a display board or presentation that includes:

○ Title of your project

○ Problem statement and hypothesis

○ Description of your experiment (method, materials, and results)

○ Visuals (graphs, charts, images)

○ Conclusion and Future Research Ideas

Heartland events are designed for families to attend together. Students need to be accompanied by an adult chaperone. If your student will be attending with another family, please email the field trip host to let them know once you complete your registration. Chaperones must be the legal parent or 25 years and older. All chaperones must be healthy, ethical people with the skills to be responsible adult chaperones.

**To ensure the health and safety of all attendees, please do not attend a field trip or event if you, your student(s), or anyone in your household is ill or showing possible signs of illness.**

May I pay using my funds? This event is FREE!

What are the check-in procedures? Check-in with Heartland HST at the door. This event will be held in the Awana Room at First Baptist. Look for balloons to find the correct room.

Does this trip have any height, weight, and/or age restrictions? All ages are welcome. Each person who attends a field trip or event must be registered through Ticketbud.

Is there on-site parking available? Yes, free parking is available.

Can we pack snacks or lunch for this event or field trip? No.
