This two-hour interactive session introduces social workers and case managers to the therapeutic use of horticulture as a practical, evidence-informed approach to supporting mental health and overall well-being. Participants will explore how engagement with plants and nature can reduce stress, support emotional regulation, enhance mood, and foster meaning and connection across diverse populations.
Grounded in person-centered and strengths-based practice, this course will demonstrate how horticultural therapy principles can be integrated into clinical and community-based settings, including hospitals, outpatient programs, and home environments. Attendees will learn adaptable strategies that require minimal resources, making this approach accessible for a wide range of care contexts.
