The Gem State Public Health AmeriCorps program presents ASIST throughout the state of Idaho partnered with NAMI Idaho. This two day workshop August 3rd & 4th in suicide intervention skills features audiovisuals, discussions and simulations. You will learn how to recognize the signs of suicide, how to provide a skilled intervention and how to develop a safety plan to help someone continue to live. Two knowledgeable, supportive trainers will guide you through this course, ensuring your comfort and safety along the way.

This class will be from 9:00am to 5:00pm each day. There will be regular breaks, a meal break, and snacks provided. All materials will also be provided, however, you are welcome to bring your own pens, notebooks, water bottle, etc.

ASIST is an intensive two-day training that covers serious topics related to suicide. During the training, we will talk about potentially activating situations including pills, shotguns, and bridges. Please make sure that as a participant, you are prepared to engage in these topics with your own mental health in mind and are ready, willing and able to walk through these hard conversations. Please call or email with concerns.

Note: You must be present for both days (16 hours) of the the training to become a certified ASIST Interventionist. CEUs are also available upon completion; the trainers can provide you with additional information on how to obtain them.
