Get inspired by the most game-changing social ventures being developed by student teams across the University of California, Berkeley.

The Andrew and Virginia Rudd Family Foundation Big Ideas Grand Prize Pitch Day and Awards Celebration brings together the entire Big Ideas community to recognize the most outstanding innovations of 2023-2024. This annual highlight of the Big Ideas Contest is an exciting event that will provide attendees with opportunities to learn about the biggest Big Ideas being developed by UC Berkeley students.

Join us to mingle with student innovators in a poster session explaining their 2024 Big Ideas (list of projects), then tune in as the top 5 Big Ideas teams vie for the $10,000 Grand Prize at the Big Ideas Grand Prize Pitch competition.

All of this year's finalists, mentors, judges and sponsors will be recognized in a festive Awards Celebration and Reception.

Pitch Day Teams will be announced in late April. Stay tuned!

Grand Prize Pitch Teams

Code Blue, UC Berkeley: Code Blue is a plugin detecting early stroke symptoms, alerting the user's emergency contacts automatically and expediting medical intervention if dangerous signs are found.

Dada Walkili, University of Sussex: Dada Wakili is a justice technology platform that provides legal information and support to address women’s urgent justice needs across Tanzania and beyond.

Narmadaई, UC Berkeley: Narmadaई co-creates affordable, sustainable, and culturally sensitive homes with and for communities displaced by India’s Sardar Sarovar Dam.

SeaWipes, UC Berkeley: SeaWipes are biodegradable, antimicrobial wet wipes made from seaweed to address environmental and infrastructure issues caused by plastic-based wipes.

Synaptrix Labs, UC Berkeley: Synaptrix Labs has figured out how to reliably move wheelchairs with the brain using a non-invasive headset for patients who cannot move any of their limbs due to paralysis.
