About the Artists
This duo originally was to be a trio and when our pianist realised he was on holiday we decided we would have three become two. Alison and Kit are looking forward to discovering together all the timbral possibilities for this combination of Brass and Percussion and hopefully trying to learn how to play each other instruments along the way.
Alison began percussion at age 14, studying under John Arcaro. Alison is currently in her Honours year at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. She has been the recipient of numerous scholarships including the Margaret Schofield Memorial Scholarship, the Catherine Grace McWilliam Scholarship, the Kenneth Moore Memorial Scholarship and currently holds the Graff Family Scholarship at the MCM. In 2016, she won both First Place and Audience Choice at the Australian Percussion Gathering Orchestral Accessories Competition. Alison has participated in the Australian Youth Orchestra National Music Camps since 2016 and is currently the Principal Percussionist of the Australian Youth Orchestra.
Kit Millais is a low brass performer and teacher from Melbourne, Australia. He enjoys pursuing all creative opportunities and constantly trying out new performance and teaching concepts. He is currently involved in many ensembles performing in a wide range of styles of ensembles, varying from New Music to the Baroque and from Jazz Bands to Orchestras. He has recently begun a Masters of Music where he will begin working on performance art and trombone.
