Come join us in San Simeon as we view and learn about the Elephant Seals from very knowledgeable docents.
Students will receive a nature journal upon arrival to use during the field trip and to take home with them.
Please have students dress in layers for the coast. It may be sunny and warm on the way up, but foggy and chilly at the elephant seal rookery.
Directions to the Elephant Seal Viewing Area: Continue north on Highway 1, past San Simeon and the Hearst Castle State Historical Monument. Turn left into the Elephant Seal Viewing Area parking lot.

There are no bathrooms at the rookery. Please plan accordingly. On the drive up the coast highway, the nearest available bathrooms are at the following locations:

Heartland events are designed for families to attend together. Students need to be accompanied by an adult chaperone. If your student will be attending with another family, please email the field trip host to let them know once you complete your registration. Chaperones must be the legal parent or 25 years and older. All chaperones must be healthy, ethical people with the skills to be responsible adult chaperones.
**To ensure the health and safety of all attendees, please do not attend a field trip or event if you, your student(s), or anyone in your household is ill or showing possible signs of illness.**
May I pay using my funds? This event is FREE!
What are the check-in procedures? Check in with Jody Voelker at the entrance to the rookery at 9:45am. Jody will be dressed in Heartland apparel and have a name tag.
Does this trip have any grade or age restrictions? All ages are welcome. Each person who attends a field trip or event must be registered through Ticketbud
Is there on-site parking available? Parking is free.
Can we pack snacks or lunch for this event or field trip? Yes.
