Mixed Media Gold Leafing Workshop-Heartland Charter School

Registration window December 5, 10:00 a.m. - December 16, 7:00 p.m.

In this workshop, we will explore the gilded style of Gustav Klimt. Students will create their own mixed media self-portrait from a photograph, using the techniques of gold-leafing, drawing, painting, stamping, mark-making, and collage, to design a personal piece of art. Bring a photocopy of yourself, including your head, neck, shoulders/tops of arms, hands are optional, (your head measuring between 1.5-2.5 inches in length), either in color or black and white. Your headshot can be a straight-on view or a profile. Bring a canvas, any shape, no larger than 15 inches wide/ long. Wear clothes you can work in and get messy or bring an apron or overshirt. We will be working with acrylic paint which can stain clothes. Feel free to bring any favorite supplies or mediums, including metallic acrylic paints in gold or silver tones.

Ticket cost:

• Students (grades 9-12) $16.00

*The price for tickets paid with a credit card will be slightly higher due to the Ticketbud processing fee.

This is a drop-off event. A Heartland HST will be chaperoning. Parents must complete this waiver.

Your student may only be dropped off if this waiver is completed.

Refunds will not be given for any reason. As a courtesy, if you are sick or unable to attend a field trip, please contact the teacher, who planned the event to let them know so they do not wait at the venue for you.

May I pay using my funds? Yes! You can pay for your student's ticket with your student's planning amount. There are two steps to purchase tickets for field trips with your student's planning amount.

Step 1. Reserve your ticket on Ticketbud. Please select the "Student ticket paid with planning amounts through Procurify" ticket option on Ticketbud. Complete the checkout process on Ticketbud. You will receive an email confirmation from Ticketbud once your order is complete. (If you do not receive an email please check your Spam folder.) This is the first step in reserving your tickets. Immediately after you receive confirmation from Ticketbud, you will move to step 2.

Step 2. Place an order for your tickets in Procurify. Search the name of this field trip in the Procurify catalog and complete your order just like you would for any other order. Your spot on this field trip will not be confirmed until you have placed your order in Procurify. Failure to place an order in Procurify within three days will result in being removed from the attendee list and having your funds manually deducted.

Does this trip have any height, weight, and/or age restrictions?  This event is for Heartland High School students only. If you purchase a ticket for a student not in at least 9th, the student will not be able to attend, and you will not receive a refund. Each guest must also purchase a ticket.

What are the check-in procedures? Check-in at 10:00 am at the San Luis Obispo Library Conference Room @ 995 Palm Street San Luis Obispo CA 93401 (Parents will drop-off and pick-up here)

Is there on-site parking available? Use paid street parking or the downtown parking structure.

Can we pack snacks or lunch for this event or field trip? Snacks and water are fine, as long as students are discreet.
