FAQs

What can I expect to learn?

You’ll leave with the confidence to create and maintain a healthy starter from scratch. We’ll cover everything you need to know to get your sourdough journey going, including feeding schedules, proper storage, and troubleshooting tips.

2. What happens once my starter is active?

Once your starter is bubbling and ready, you can start baking delicious sourdough bread! We’ll guide you through what to expect as your starter matures and how to recognize when it’s at its peak.

Do I need any experience?

Not at all! This class is designed for everyone, whether you're a complete beginner or already have a little baking experience. Our goal is to make it approachable and fun.

Will we be making bread during the class?

While the focus is on building and caring for your starter, we’ll provide you with tips on how to use your starter in future bakes and share recipes to try at home!

How long does it take for a starter to be ready?

Typically, it takes about 5-7 days for your starter to become active and bubbly enough to use in baking. Patience is key, but we’ll guide you through what to expect each day!

What do I need to bring to the class?

Just yourself! We’ll provide all the ingredients and materials you'll need to get started. If you'd like to bring a notebook for taking notes, feel free.

What if I need help after the class?

We’re always here to help! You’ll receive resources to take home, and we encourage you to stay in touch with the community we build during the class. You can also reach out to us with any questions about your starter down the line.

Can I take my starter home?

Yes! You'll leave the workshop with your very own sourdough starter to nurture at home, along with instructions on how to keep it thriving.

Is there anything special about the ingredients we use?

We’ll be using high-quality organic flour, and you’ll learn about the importance of choosing the right flour for your starter. The best part is you can use simple ingredients at home, too!

Will there be any tasting or samples?

Yes! While we won’t bake bread during the class, there will be sourdough bread samples available to taste so you can see what’s possible once your starter is active.

Ready to roll up your sleeves, make new friends, and start your own sourdough journey with the support of the local community!
