Suicide: Know the facts, Know how to help

This Center for Justice and Law event provides an overview of suicide prevalence rates, warning signs, myths, protective factors, and basic strategies for crisis intervention and suicide prevention. This training is appropriate for lawyers, social workers, corrections, police, teachers and professors, behavioral health, and the general public.

Hamline University Anderson Center room 111 (Corner of Snelling and Englewood - on site and street parking available).

Speakers:

Jillian Peterson, Ph.D. is an assistant professor of criminal justice at Hamline University and the director of the Hamline Center for Justice and Law.  Dr. Peterson has a doctoral degree in psychology and social behavior from the University of California, Irvine. Her areas of expertise include violent crime, mass violence, crisis intervention, forensic psychology, and evidence-based public policy.

Hussein Rajput is the director of Counseling Services at Hamline University. Dr. Rajput obtained his Ph.D. in Counseling and Student Personnel Psychology from the University of Minnesota. Prior to coming to Hamline, he worked in counseling centers at Carleton College, the University of St. Thomas, the University of Oregon, and the University of Minnesota.
