October Luncheon:

Verdae,

Past Sites and Future Visions

When the late John D. Hollingsworth Jr. passed away in 2000, the bulk of his self-made fortune, valued at some $290 million, was passed to Hollingsworth Funds with the specific charge to foster good works in perpetuity. Verdae Development Inc., a subsidiary company of Hollingsworth Funds Inc., was created to manage the Verdae project - a 1,100-acre community development plan.

Join CREW Upstate in learning the history of the Verdae project, completed sites within the master planned community, and new visions for the future of the development from Verdae Development Inc. CEO, Dan Klausner.

Our CREW networking time will be from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm with announcements, Sponsor recognition, and lunch starting at noon.

Food choices are Three Cheese Grilled Cheese & Tomato Basil Soup OR GCC Grilled Cheeseburger & House Fries. Please notify CREW Upstate of any food-related allergies.

Meet our Speaker: Dan Klausner

Event details image 1

Dan Klausner is the CEO of Verdae Development Inc, the master developer for the 1,100-acre master planned community known as Verdae. Dan took the helm at VDI in July of 2022 after helping Newland Communities adapt the way they looked at mixed-use development to create value in their master planned communities up and down the East Coast. These entitlements included over 20 MSF of Commercial and over 6,000 multi-family units in VA, NC, SC, GA and FL.

Under his direction, Verdae’s immediate focus centers around key projects in Hollingsworth Park and clearing a path forward for the refreshed Laurens Road vision.  Securing a strong guiding brand, public financing, and building an integrated design team will be critical in establishing Laurens Road as a vibrant and unique, mixed-use district. Coupling the mission of Hollingsworth Funds, VDI’s parent company, with solid real estate development strategy will recreate an area of Laurens Road that better reflects Greenville’s cultural and social diversity while acting as a hub for future economic innovation with office, residential, recreation, and retail in an urban setting.

Originally from New York, Dan earned his bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute, his master’s in the same field from Manhattan College, and his master’s in business administration in Real Estate and Finance from Kenan-Flagler Business School in Chapel Hill.
