Sister Sophie Lecture: "Anti-Racism as a Class Project"

Tuesday, October 17, 2023

06:00 PM - 08:30 PM

The Gordon Vogt Film Screening Room at the Isabel Bader Center

Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts, King Street West, Kingston, ON, Canada

Join us for a talk by Walter Benn Michaels and Adolph Reed

Abstract:

The idea that inequality in the U.S. today is “rooted in systemic racism and the legacy of slavery” and that the effort to combat this inequality should take the form of an attack on racial disparities is at the heart of liberal egalitarianism. But it is false. This talk will be about the role played by racism in producing inequality and the role played by anti-racism in reproducing it.

*This event will be photographed [flash photography] and filmed.
