Explore the history of Camp Roberts and its role in California and U.S. military history. Students will examine authentic military artifacts, photographs, uniforms, equipment, and historic vehicles while learning about World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and beyond. The visit connects local history to national events and provides opportunities to explore military careers, historic preservation, and the experiences of those who served and trained at Camp Roberts.

All adults must have an ID, such as a driver's license or DMV ID, and all drivers must show a current registration and insurance at the gate upon arrival.

Beth will need to provide a list of full legal names for all adults attending the museum in advance. Anyone whose name is not on the list, or who does not present a valid and acceptable ID, will not be admitted.

May I pay using my funds? This event is FREE! (A Procurify order is not required.) Donations are welcome, as the museum receives no funding.

What are the check-in procedures? Please check in with Beth Walls, HST, upon arrival. She will be wearing a Heartland shirt.

Who may attend? This field trip is geared toward students in grades 3-12; however, all ages are welcome. Every attendee needs a ticket. This includes infants.

Is there on-site parking available? Entry to Camp Roberts for a museum visit is through the main gate. Exit 244 from US Highway 101 is a dedicated off-ramp into the main gate. At the guard station, persons who do not possess a military identification card will be directed to check in with the security personnel in the visitor center on the right before proceeding into the camp. Vehicle drivers must show current registration and proof of insurance for the vehicle, as well as a valid driver’s license, passport, or Native American tribal ID card.

As you proceed past the guardhouse, keep to the right at the “Y” intersection, then veer to the left and proceed due west on New Mexico Avenue. You will see the Museum Annex, with tanks and other tracked vehicles on display out front, to your left. As you continue on New Mexico Avenue, you will pass the athletic field to your left, then the large gymnasium. Just after that, you will arrive at the Main Museum, a large building with a huge portico on the front, on your right.

Please park in the large parking lot across the street from the museum by the sports arena.

Can we pack snacks or lunch for this event or field trip? Families can pack a lunch to eat in the picnic area after the tour.

  • It is important that you provide the name of the person who will be using each ticket when registering. Don't reserve all of your tickets using your name. (We do not recommend using the option that allows you to copy data from another attendee.)
  • Confirmation: You will receive an email confirmation from Ticketbud once your order is complete. If you do not see the email within a few minutes, please check your Spam/Junk folder. If you cannot find a confirmation email from Ticketbud, you did not successfully reserve tickets.

Heartland events are designed for families to attend together. Students need to be accompanied by an adult chaperone. If your student will be attending with another family, please email the field trip host to let them know once you complete your registration. Chaperones must be the legal parent or 25 years and older. All chaperones must be healthy, ethical people with the skills to be responsible adult chaperones.

Please review our Field Trip Attendance Policy!

To ensure we can provide these experiences to as many students as possible, please review our commitment guidelines before registering.

Tickets are Non-Transferable

  • Non-Transferable: Tickets are tied specifically to the student account used at registration. They cannot be sold, gifted, or transferred to another family.

The "No-Show" Policy

  • Loss of Access: Families who are frequent "no-shows" may lose access to future field trip registrations. We track attendance to ensure that limited spots go to families who are committed to attending.

Professional Courtesy: If an emergency arises and you truly cannot make it:

  • Notify the Lead Teacher: Please email the organizing teacher as soon as possible.
  • Why it matters: This prevents the entire group from waiting at the venue entrance for your arrival, keeping the educational program on schedule for everyone else.

Our Goal: By only registering for events you are fully committed to, you help us keep our field trip program sustainable and open to all students.
