SEM 2 Heartschool 8:30 AM Academic Pentathlon- Grades 6-8th

Tuesday, January 14, 2025 - Tuesday, June 03, 2025

08:30 AM - 08:30 AM

This is for the second-semester Heartschool course beginning Tuesday, January 14th.

Academic Pentathlon is an enrichment class for 6th - 8th grade students. This is a fun and interactive class where we get a chance to deep dive into a different theme every year. During our time together in Heartschool, we will have wonderful discussions, interactive assignments, watch thought provoking videos, play educational games and build strong bonds as a team. Students will study the thematic curriculum and then compete at a Regional and National level. The competition is the culmination of this class, but it is NOT MANDATORY. This year's theme is, "Our Changing Climate". The curriculum is broken up into the following topics: Social Science: Climate Change Past and Present, Science: Intro to Environmental Science, Fine Art: Intro to Art and Music Theory/Music of the Natural World/Environmental Art, Literature: Environmental Literature (short stories, poems, multi-media) and a novel, Math. For students who would like to participate in the competition, there is an Academic Pentathlon Competition Club that you will also need to join, that will include a fee of $50 (student funds). You will sign up for the club separately.
