North Woods Grand Tournament 2025

Greetings General,

You are invited to attend the first annual Kings of War North Woods Grand Tournament in Reedsburg Wisconsin. The Tournament will be held at the Reedsburg City Gym. It is sponsored by Three Mountain Games and Mantic Games. It is hosted by Kings of War Wisconsin, and the Reedsburg City Council. The address is 420 Plum street, Reedsburg WI 53959.

The date for the Tournament will be January 18-19 2025. This event will be a Masters qualifier. Attendance is limited to 24 players.

This year’s tournament will cost $35.00. Lunch will be provided both days.

Your force will be 2300 points (NO ALLIES) out of the Big Red Book and Clash of Kings.

Because this is a North Woods event, terrain on each table will include extra forests and/or hills.

Here is the tentative schedule for the event. In the case of inclement weather, our schedule may be adjusted for Saturday to accommodate travel. We highly recommend that players get a hotel and stay local on Friday night, just to be safe.

3pm: Awards Ceremony

Scenarios will be selected via roll-off with veto. For each of the games, the players will be presented with three possible scenarios to play. Whichever player LOSES the roll-off will get to veto one of the three scenarios. The winner of the roll-off will then get to select the scenario from the two remaining.

Scoring will be 15/10/5 points with up to 5 points attrition bonus per game.

Attrition Spread is 300, 800, 1200, 1700, 2000

Please report your game results immediately. Worksheets will be provided for your convenience.

Sportsmanship scores will be awarded to you by your opponents.

2 points per best game vote

Armies must be painted to a three-color minimum.

Best Army will be determined by player vote during lunch on Saturday.

Armies that are at least 50% Mantic will get a plus one bonus vote for Best Army.

Withdraw rule is in effect

Command dice will be used.

Chess clocks will be used. Each player will have 60 minutes on their clock. Clocks run during deployment and scout moves, but may be paused for bathroom breaks or rules disputes.

If a player runs out of time on their clock, they must immediately put their dice down. They may make no further rolls, and they may make no further moves. Any nerve checks left unresolved that turn are considered “Steady”. If a roll must be made to determine whether there is a turn seven, the other player will make that roll.

If you have a chess clock, please bring it. Our club has a limited number of clocks available. Thank you!

Reedsburg is a nice town about 20 minutes away from the Wisconsin Dells. There are plenty of hotels in the area. We recommend booking one close due to the unpredictable nature of winter in the North Woods! There are several good but affordable restaurants in town. There is a pub across the street from Three Mountain Games on Main Street.

Tournament Organizers reserve the right to eject anybody they feel to be playing unfairly or acting inappropriately. This includes cheating, excessive profanity, verbal or physical altercations with staff or players. If you are ejected you will not be refunded.
