Come visit the Kern Valley Museum in Kernville and learn about the Gold Rush, Native Americans, mining, and much more! Knowledgeable docents will lead you on a tour though the museum and show you the many artifacts the lend to the rich history of the Kern River Valley. You’ll also learn about hydroelectric power and how Lake Isabella was formed to generate electricity. The museum also offers a recently added display on the history of recreation in the valley, and a display on local cowboys and ranchers, as well as many movies that were filmed here. Once the tour is over, you are free to explore the town’s shops and restaurants, or bring your lunch and enjoy a picnic at the park by the river.
*This is a docent lead tour of the museum. Students will be expected to stay with their parents and their tour guide.
Heartland events are designed for families to attend together. Students need to be accompanied by an adult chaperone. If your student will be attending with another family, please email the field trip host to let them know once you complete your registration. Chaperones must be the legal parent or 25 years and older. All chaperones must be healthy, ethical people with the skills to be responsible adult chaperones.
**To ensure the health and safety of all attendees, please do not attend a field trip or event if you, your student(s), or anyone in your household is ill or showing possible signs of illness.**
