Registration window February 28, 10:00 a.m. -March 6, 7:00 p.m.

The Northern Chumash school group program takes a hands-on approach to learning about the ancestral past of the Northern Chumash tribe. Students will rotate through a series of stations where they will deepen their understanding of the Northern Chumash and discover the importance the natural world played in providing an abundance of resources for the Northern Chumash tribe for thousands of years. Most activities for this field trip will take place outdoors.

Activity 1, Hands-on activities: Make acorn mush, play Northern Chumash games, create rock art

Activity 2, Lagoon Walk: Nature walk around Oceano Lagoon. Learn about native plants and their uses and discover many more natural resources utilized by the Northern Chumash along the Oceano Lagoon.

Activity 3, Life in the Village: This indoor talk includes a variety of Northern Chumash replicas which are used to discuss topics including music, tools, village life, and much more.

Siblings under 5 may Children below TK are allowed to come along and must register for a younger sibling ticket. They will not be a part of the hands-on activities and must be kept with the adult chaperone at all times.

Heartland events are designed for families to attend together. Students need to be accompanied by an adult chaperone. If your student will be attending with another family, please email the field trip host to let them know once you complete your registration. Chaperones must be the legal parent or 25 years and older. All chaperones must be healthy, ethical people with the skills to be responsible adult chaperones.

**To ensure the health and safety of all attendees, please do not attend a field trip or event if you, your student(s), or anyone in your household is ill or showing possible signs of illness.**

May I pay using my funds? This event is FREE!

What are the check-in procedures? Please find the HST in charge just outside of the venue to check in. We will be breaking into 3 groups to move through the activities.

Does this trip have any height, weight, and/or age restrictions? This field trip is created for 3rd grade students but students of other ages will find value in the learning. Only one chaperone per family due to limited space. Each person who attends a field trip or event must be registered through Ticketbud.

Is there on-site parking available? Yes, free parking is available.

Can we pack snacks or lunch for this event or field trip? Water only, please.
