Monarch Butterfly Grove-Heartland Charter School

Registration window November 5, 10:00 a.m. -November 12, 7:00 p.m.

Did you know butterflies migrate in the Winter? Monarchs seek places with ideal microclimates for their winter habitat. They require a sheltered area buffered from cold temperatures, storms, and wind. The coastal environment along Central California and specifically along the coast at Pismo Beach provides the perfect microclimate for the western monarch to rest during the winter months. Some butterflies may travel as far as 2,000 miles to reach this site.

Heartland events are designed for families to attend together. Students need to be accompanied by an adult chaperone. If your student will be attending with another family, please email the field trip host to let them know once you complete your registration. Chaperones must be the legal parent or 25 years and older. All chaperones must be healthy, ethical people with the skills to be responsible adult chaperones.

What are the check-in procedures? 10:20- Meet out front so we can divide into 3 groups

Does this trip have any height, weight, and/or age restrictions? This field trip is aimed at students in K-4th grade; however, all ages are welcome. Only one chaperone per family due to limited space. Each person who attends a field trip or event must be registered through Ticketbud.

Is there on-site parking available? Free- We highly recommend parking in the large parking lot near Fin’s Restaurant, 25 W Grand Ave, Grover Beach, and walking the Boardwalk Trail over to the Butterfly Grove. The trail is under a half mile and would take kids about 15 minutes to walk. If you would like more information on this parking area and trail, please call 805-474-2664.
