Music at Montvale with Scott Miller

August 24th, 2024

Music at Montvale returns for another show with the incomparable Scott Miller, a roots-rock singer/songwriter with deep roots in the East Tennessee music scene.  Opening for Scott is David Childers, a singer-songwriter who will wow you on the banjo.

Join us for a magical evening of music under the stars at Harmony’s historic Montvale Springs, a breathtaking 354 acre wooded wonderland in the foothills of the Chilhowee and Smoky Mountains. Bring your camp chair or blanket and enjoy the sights and sounds of Montvale’s natural amphitheater! Great music is even better with good food and libations – there will be several food trucks and beer on site. Proceeds from the event will support the preservation of Montvale Springs as well as Harmony’s therapeutic camps and programming for children and families at this historic property.

Event details image 1

A member of the East Tennessee Writers Hall of Fame, fiery roots-rock singer/songwriter SCOTT MILLER returned to his native Virginia to tend the family farm while continuing to release and perform new music informed by that rural area, history, and Appalachia. “[Miller combines] the emotional honesty and intelligence of a singer/songwriter with the swagger and enthusiasm of a rock & roller… a gifted and eclectic solo artist.” (AllMusic.com) Scott has toured with Patty Griffin, Robbie Fulks, Paul Thorn, Robin & Linda Williams, and American Aquarium.

MOUNT HOLLY, North Carolina — Singer-songwriter David Childers is the proverbial study in contradictions. A resident of Mount Holly, North Carolina, he’s a former high-school football player with the aw-shucks demeanor of a good ol’ Southern boy. But he’s also a well-read poet and painter who cites Chaucer and Kerouac as influences, fell in love with folk as a teen, listens to jazz and opera, and fed his family by practicing law before turning in his license to concentrate on his creative passions.
