Overview of workshops
The course is structured into two levels: an Introductory Level for those new to AI and an Advanced Level for participants looking to deepen their expertise.
You can choose to attend each level independently, selecting the one that best fits your current knowledge and goals. Alternatively, you can enroll in both levels and benefit from a 15% bundle discount on the total course fee.
Delivery
The workshops are via Zoom and consists of live sessions with the facilitator and sessions of self-paced learning.
WORKSHOP DETAILS
Introductory Level
By the end of this 3 day introductory workshop, participants will be able to:
- Select appropriate AI tools for specific research and evaluation tasks
- Craft and refine effective prompts to generate relevant AI outputs
- Apply AI tools to various research processes, from literature review to result communication
- Navigate ethical and security considerations in AI-assisted research
Note: No prior experience with AI or machine learning is required. This workshop is designed for beginners in AI.
The 3 days workshop is structured with 2 live sessions and 1 day for homework:
Day 1 - (2 hours, live session)
- Introduction to AI in Research and Evaluation
- AI Tools for Research and Evaluation
- Choosing the Right Tool
Day 2 - (1 hour, self-paced)
Practical Task/Home work: AI Tool Selection and Basic Prompting
Day 3 - (2 hours, Live session)
- Review of the Self-paced Task
- Effective Prompting Techniques
- Data Security and Privacy
Advanced Level
By the end of this 3 day advanced level workshop, participants will be able to:
- Develop custom AI models and assistants tailored for evaluation and research tasks
- Apply advanced prompting techniques
- Distinguish between open and closed AI models
- Create and implement AI-powered tools for qualitative, quantitative, and gender analysis
- Utilise AI effectively in research communication

Day 2 - (1 hour, self-paced)
Practical Task: Custom Model Creation and Application
Day 3 - (2 hours, Live session)

- Conducting Gender Analysis with AI
- AI-Assisted Research Communication
