Join us in the Lowcountry! The Iconoclast Dinner Experience (IDE) is thrilled to continue exploring the legacy of land loss shared by African-American farmers and Mexican-Americans in the West. We've partnered with our friends at Montage Palmetto Bluff for IDE 13 Million Acres.

IDE 13 Million Acres-Bluffton will be a weekend of IDE Curated events culminating with a six-course culinary journey highlighting trailblazing Southern-based chefs and beverage professionals that explores how the connection to land touches us all.


Saturday September 9th

🎟️ IDE Low Country Foodways Tour

3 PM

IDE Signature Ecological Walking Tour led by Montage Palmetto Bluff's resident naturalist explores the bounty of the Low Country, foods that have developed from it, and the role these foods have played in the regional history for centuries. Tour punctuated by a small plate and cocktails.

Sunday September 10th

🎟️ IDE Chartered Inland Waterway Boat Tour - Host Committee

10 AM or 11 AM

Chartered Boat Tour exclusively for the IDE 13 Million Acres Host Committee. Experience the pristine beauty of South Carolina’s Lowcountry with a guided Ecological Tour led by Montage Palmetto Bluff's resident naturalist  Glide along the lagoon waterways and soak in the scenic views of the region’s flora and fauna while learning about the local ecology and history. Tour punctuated by a small plate and cocktails.

🎟️ IDE 13 Million Acres Family Supper 

6 PM

Intimate supper reserved for chefs and the mixologist participating in the IDE 13 Million Acres September 11th Dinner. Informal event that give the culinary and beverage team an opportunity to bond and provide them with a sense of place. Family Supper will be off-site and hosted by Frances and Marion Chalmers founders of Rollen's RAW Grains. Marion "Rollen" Chalmers is a fourth-generation rice farmer. Rollens grows Carolina Gold Rice and Charleston Gold Rice at Turnbridge Farm in Hardeeville, S.C. for Anson Mills and created a Carolina Gold Rice field at the University of Georgia Center for Research and Education. Additionally, his rice has been on display at the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture. This will be a rustic and traditional menu consisting of Wild Boar, Charleston Gold Rice, and other offerings emblematic of African-American Low Country Cuisine.

Two tickets offered through IDE's Silent Auction beginning August 22nd. Dietary Restrictions Politely Declined.
