Because you are clear on how much you want to show up for yourself and all you love...

Because old patterns of doing and loving must be rewired through vibration...

You are called to this series of events to listen inward and outward, notice and feel more deeply.

You will explore allowing things to play out sonically and "musically" in the context of a mini-concert, an open mic, and two opportunities to explore sound-making together in safe, supportive community.

About this weekend

In the safety of loving guidance, we will play different musical instruments, including pianos, drums, flutes, guitars, and bassoon (if someone brings one!)

During the course of the weekend, we'll play theatrical improv games, dance and sing our hearts out. You'll be expressing your true voice and inhabiting your unique and precious gifts with one another and with ourselves.

As we become a musical village, we may decide to offer ourselves to a communal ritual on Sunday morning inspired by the rhythms, dances, songs, and stories that emerged over the previous couple of days; informed by West African, Celtic, Native American, and other spiritual traditions; and guided by the deep wisdom and loving connection present with us during the weekend.

NO PRIOR MUSICAL OR RITUAL EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY

This event will take place in Jay and Amanda’s refurbished pole barn for its inaugural musical event. We are turning our barn into a home to host future Jams, Open Mics, and intimate concerts.

You are WELCOME as you are. All you share will be held sacred in a safe container.

We will be joining heartbeats and drumbeats and walking into the unknown.

1)  There will be piano playing, drumming, sounding with any instruments you bring, vocalizing, movement, rhythm, quiet moments, and provocative ideas to play with, listen to, and reflect on.

2)  We'll explore a unique combination of vibrational science and mysticism, music and meditation, drumming and humming, jiggling and standing still, laughing and pondering.

3)  We will discover some surprising and liberating new ways to orient ourselves to the world, within and without.

Together we will cross thresholds and expand our possibilities.

Come with a friend (or a few!) and explore your natural rhythms with us. This is your birthright.

Your guide for the weekend

Daniel Barber (aka Two Trees)

In his time as a social worker, social scientist, video producer, political activist, band leader, improvisational actor and musician, sound shaman, and ceremonial guide, Daniel Barber has persistently pursued the question...

“How can we get from where we are to where we most want to be?” Everywhere, capable and competent people struggle with themselves and others without knowing why.

Since 2014, he has worked with people who are feeling stuck, out of tune, and uncertain to find liberation by exploring our authentic, creative nature by sound-making and way-finding on piano in the midst/mist/myst of it all.

He created a way for people to learn to play the piano intuitively using a technique that makes it easy to learn to improvise in all 12 keys. In fact, it's so easy it's possible to learn and understand it well enough to start playing in any key in less than one hour! :-)

This makes it possible to explore the inner realms of the creative without being totally discouraged by sour notes. This is where the transformation work lives, in the magical dance of listening, feeling, and playing it out moment to moment. And watching ourselves as we stumble and bumble along... Hoooeeee!

Daniel has also trained and worked for 20 years with the Rites of Passage Council, where he was certified to lead indigenous ritual. This, along also leading the World Beat Band at the Jubilee! Community during the same 20 years, performing with the Asheville Playback Theatre company for 12 years, and guiding people through his own SoundYourSelf method for 10 years... has nurtured in Daniel (Two Trees) an unusually varied capacity to connect deeply and mindfully through the transformative power of sound.

Cancellation Policy:

No Charge - If canceled more than 14 days before July 4, Cancellation needs to happen by 11:59pm PST on June 19th.

Half Charge - If canceled more than 3 days but less than 14 days before July 4, half of the retreat fee will be charged if canceled after June 19 and before June 30 at 11:59 pm PST.

Full Charge - If canceled less than three (3) days before July 4, full charge happens if not canceled before June 30 at 11:59pm PST.
