Physics Field Day 2020

Physics Field Day is an event designed to help students prepare for the AP Physics Test as well as get some experience doing hands on and involved problem solving related to physics. Activities we have planned include a mock AP Physics style test, some "back of the envelope" Fermi problems, and a physics experiment related to optics! We also have over $300 dollars in prizes to award to the top performing students and schools. Lunch, snacks, and a t-shirt are included in the cost of the tickets as well as presentations from speakers and tours of state of the art physics laboratories.

If you are under 18, please have a parent or legal guardian fill out this form before hand (http://youthprograms.gatech.edu/sites/default/files/documents/gtparentalreleaseform.pdf) and bring it with you to the check in. Please make sure to bring a pencil and calculator with you for the testing portions. Calculators may be provided but supply is limited.

8:00 AM – 8:30 AM (Check in)

8:30 AM - 9:00 AM (Introductions and Opening Ceremony)

9:00 AM - 11:00 AM (Mock AP Test)

11:00 AM - 11:15 AM (Snack Break)

11:15 AM - 12:00 PM (Fermi Test)

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM (Lunch and Student Research Presentation)

1:00 PM - 2:30 PM (Experimental Round)

2:30 PM - 3:15 PM (Keynote Speaker)

3:15 PM - 4:00 PM (Physics Lab Tours)

4:00 PM - 4:45 PM (Snacks and final Student Research Presentation)

4:45 PM - 5:00 PM (Awards Ceremony, distribute t-shirts & Wrap up)

Registration will close on March 31st. If you cannot afford to pay the full registration free please contact us to see if we can make a special arrangement for you, we want everyone to be able to participate in the physics fun!
