The Burley Inn Convention Center
800 North Overland Avenue, Burley, ID, USA
The Gem State Public Health AmeriCorps program presents ASIST partnered with NAMI Idaho, and the Burley Inn Convention Center. This two day workshop (July 7 & 8) in suicide intervention skills features audiovisuals, discussions and simulations. You will learn how to recognize the signs of suicide, how to provide a skilled intervention and how to develop a safety plan to help someone continue to live. Two knowledgeable, supportive trainers will guide you through this course, ensuring your comfort and safety along the way.
ASIST is an intensive two-day training that covers serious topics related to suicide. During the training, we will talk about potentially activating situations including pills, shotguns, and bridges. Please make sure that as a participant, you are prepared to engage in these topics with your own mental health in mind and are ready, willing and able to walk through these hard conversations. Please call or email with concerns.
This class will be from 9:00am to 5:00pm each day. There will be regular breaks and a meal break. Attendees are responsible for providing their own lunch. For convenience, a menu for the Perkins on site restaurant will be available for attendees to order from. All materials will also be provided, however, you are welcome to bring your own pens, notebooks, water bottle, etc.
Note: You must be present for both days (16 hours) of the the training to become a certified ASIST Interventionist. CEUs are also available upon completion; the trainers can provide you with additional information on how to obtain them.
