First Pages w/Editor Dana Chidiac

In this small group session (8 spots available), editor Dana Chidiac will provide feedback to one-page submissions read anonymously. Open to all children's book genres (picture book through YA).

To add context to the first page submissions, we ask writers to include a short synopsis on their page, as well as genre information. An opportunity to include a question at the bottom of your page will also be available! First pages must be submitted by participants by Sunday, June 13. Instructions will be sent to all ticket-holders.


Faculty Bio:

Dana Chidiac is an editor at Dial Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Penguin Random House. She edits picture books, graphic novels, and middle grade and young adult novels. Her list includes books by Adib Khorram, Sarah Kapit, Joy McCullough, Gillian Goerz, Breanna McDaniel, Shane Evans, Elissa Brent Weissman, Huda Fahmy, Minda Harts, and Joseph Bruchac. Originally from Michigan, Dana was a children’s bookseller at Politics & Prose in Washington, DC, and Harvard Book Store in Cambridge, MA, and earned a master’s degree in children’s literature from Simmons College in Boston before joining Dial in 2013. Her favorite books feature unfamiliar settings and unforgettable voices that beg to be read aloud. Her favorite sports are Olympic swimming and middle school spelling.

Full ticket refunds are available two weeks prior to the event and half the ticket cost after. In the case that the event must be canceled, full refunds will be distributed.

This event will be hosted via zoom and will not be recorded.
