Join us for a panel discussion on the Overview of 1031 Exchanges, the impact of exchanges on our economy and the importance of exchanges in the Real Estate sector. Our panelists will also discuss the effects of proposed changes to the rules and regulations governing 1031 exchanges.  


We would like to offer a plated lunch with the following options:

- Scallopini of Chicken – artichoke and sundried tomato in a white wine sauce

-Pasta Primavera – fresh garden vegetables, light basil pesto, crushed red peppers and parmesan

John is an experienced entrepreneur responsible for the founding and growth of numerous enterprises across a wide array of industries. His primary responsibilities are in the areas of strategic planning and investment analysis. He has developed a keen ability to foresee future opportunities, trends and technologies. Not one to sit back and miss a chance, when John sees a need he addresses it. 

Banker Exchange was founded in 1992 after John became aware of the difficulties people had with 1031 exchanges. At the helm ever since, providing trustworthy expertise to those involved in a 1031 exchange of any kind.

Since 2009, John had been assisting developers with monetizing South Carolina Revitalization Tax Credits. Tax Credit Marketplace began in 2013 as a vehicle for matching Tax Credit investors with potential credit generating projects. To date Tax Credit Marketplace has placed in excess of $60 million in SC Tax Credits.

Additionally, John currently serves as Chairman of TIC Properties, LLC and its subsidiaries. Under his leadership, TIC Properties syndicated 34 properties with a syndicated value of more than $1 billion. TIC Properties Management, LLC currently manages more than 4 million square feet of office, retail and industrial properties on behalf of over 1200 investors.

A graduate of Furman University, holding a degree in Accounting, John earned his CPA designation in 1988, a designation he held until December 2005. He currently holds a South Carolina Real Estate Broker’s license.

Matt is Market President for Banker Exchange, a Qualified Intermediary providing a full spectrum of tax-deferred exchange services under Section 1031 of the Internal Revenue Code. Linville, a well-rounded professional with several years of experience in the 1031 Like-Kind Exchange field, will focus on growing banking and professional relationships throughout Banker Exchange markets in North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and Ohio. 

Through his career, Linville has focused on helping others succeed, accomplishing the mission at hand and fully exercising his gifts and talents to do both. With the insight and experience that comes from having raised several million dollars for The Salvation Army and having served as a Hospital Executive over all facets of Community and Employee Relations, his unique insights and experience will bring value to taxpayers, bankers, attorneys, CPAs, realtors and more.

Linville and his wife, Abigail, live in beautiful Pilot Mountain, NC. For the past five years, they have worked with Cultural Homestay International and opened their home to international exchange students from Turkey and Belgium.

As a Principal on the Capital Markets/Investment Sales’ team, Lyons specializes in the marketing, disposition and acquisition of investment properties. He brings over 20 years of industry experience to the team and has executed over $400 million in transactions. Gary has handled dispositions for large portfolio owners including Foundation Capital, RealOp, SVN Equities and Xerium Corporation. He has assisted numerous physician/owners of healthcare properties in the sale (and lease back) of their medical office buildings.

Prior to joining Avison Young, Lyons served as a vice president at Lincoln Harris, where he was responsible for expanding investment sales for the firm’s Raleigh-Durham office. Gary served nine years as the managing director/senior in the Raleigh-Durham office of Sperry Van Ness (SVN), where he directed a team of brokers that specialized in investment sales transactions. Under his leadership, the brokerage team completed approximately $200M of transactions in nearly every sector of the industry. In 2009, he served as the President of the North Carolina CCIM Chapter, an organization which has over 600 members.

Lyons launched his real estate career after a 14-year run in the telecommunications equipment industry. He served in numerous engineering, marketing, and sales’ positions, including P & L responsibility for a highly profitable $70M business unit of a Fortune 500 company. He is married to Mia, has two adult children and resides in Powdersville.

Kim Keable is a partner with Keable & Brown, PA specializing in commercial and residential real estate transactions. Kim grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, and graduated summa cum laude from the College of Charleston with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1994 and obtained her Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1997. Kim has been practicing law in Greenville since 1997, opening her own firm in 2001. She is an Affiliate Member of the Greater Greenville Association of Realtors, a Member and former Board Member and office of CREW Upstate, and provides pro bono legal services to Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County and Miracle Hill Ministries. Kim has worked with Banker Exchange on a variety of transactions involving 1031 exchanges from routine like-kind exchanges to new construction.
