This virtual panel will discuss important aspects of developmental editing for authors aiming to publish both independently & traditionally, as well as provide insight into key elements of this type of editing, offer suggestions for writers on a budget, and tips for identifying good developmental feedback that will help you with your novel revisions!

Her writing has been nominated for Pushcart and Best of the Net prizes and has appeared in The Margins @AAWW, Salty, Insider, and various anthologies. ARI AUGUSTINE is an author of adult science fiction and fantasy stories, an independent book editor, and the published poet of ELSEWHERE WE BECAME and HALF LIGHT. Her current projects include GHOST MOON [a VR LitRP cultivation fantasy serial], GODFLOWER [an adult contemporary fantasy steeped in Japanese lore], and THE EVERLIGHT PROTOCOL [a serialized space fantasy in the vein of intergalactic Attack On Titan with Witcher vibes].

When not writing, she enjoys video gaming, crime documentaries, traveling the world, and conspiring with the neighborhood stray cats. She lives in the wilds of Eastern Tennessee with her husband and their two mischief-making kitties, Mori-kun and Little Fury.

Tanya Gold (they/them) is a book editor, French to English translator, educator, and literary omnivore.

They work on and devour SFF, horror, retellings, queer stories, experimental narratives, interactive fiction, and graphic novels.

They also teach online courses for editors and writers, and at Emerson College’s Popular Fiction Writing and Publishing MFA.

It has been suggested that they read too much for their own good. This might be true.

A.P. Hawkins is a biologist turned speculative fiction author and editor based in Houston, Texas. Her short fiction has appeared in Analog Science Fiction and Fact and several anthologies, most recently The Librarian from Air and Nothingness Press. A.P. is a co-host of Writers Lunch, a weekly online workshop covering topics ranging from worldbuilding to querying and more.
