Student Performance, the Law and the ADA

Rush University Professional Office Building - 5th Floor

Friday March 8th 2019 8:30 am –  3:30 pm

Educators are responsible for evaluating students’ performance in classroom, clinical and professional settings. As threats of lawsuits are on the rise, academic and clinical faculty often fear giving honest feedback and grades that reflect true performance. This program is designed to enhance faculty and administrators’ understanding of how the courts view such decisions in classroom, clinical and professional fieldwork experience.

Through the use of actual court cases, the program addresses the importance, use and role of “essential qualifications/competencies” when using subjective professional and academic judgment to assess students in each of the following areas:

  • Admissions
  • Student Performance Evaluation with Emphasis on Clinical and Training Site Performance
  • Individualized Student Evaluation and Remediation
  • Probation and Academic Dismissal
