The People's Forum

The People's Forum, 320 W 37th St, New York, NY 10018, USA

1) For attendees signing up virtually, join us through The People's Forum Live Stream.

2) Due to the surge in COVID-19 cases, we are implementing a mask mandate for the in-person event.

Join us for an educational demonstration and teach-in at The People's Forum @peoplesforumnyc as we delve into the intertwined histories of Bangladesh and Palestine. We will explore the past, present, and future of our two nations, highlighting our shared struggles.

From colonial pasts to ongoing struggles for self-determination, we will examine the connections between Bangladesh and Palestine to untangle the timeline in which both the Bangladeshi genocide, the violent displacement of Palestinians, and the ongoing occupation of Palestine took place simultaneously. We will discuss the long history of Bangali and Palestinian resistance and solidarity. We will explore the Bangladeshi government’s connection to the state of Israel and the recent normalization of relations. And most importantly, as activists in the U.S. empire, together, we will discuss how Bangalis in the belly of the beast can tap into existing Palestinian solidarity efforts and mobilize our own towards a liberated Palestine. All global oppression and violence are deeply connected.

Light refreshments from a vendor will be provided – $5 or more suggested donation. If you would prefer to donate through other channels, please donate to: Venmo @fablihayeaub

The teach-in will be facilitated in-person by three Bangladeshi-American organizers and cultural workers, Fabliha Yeaqub, Sabirah Mahmud, and Tahia Islam.
