Island Packers

1691 Spinnaker Dr., Ste. 105 B, Ventura, CA, 93001

Registration window October 21, 10:00 a.m. -October 28, 7:00 p.m.

This is an island landing excursion to Anacapa Island. The trip will begin with an hour-long boat ride out to the island where we will look for marine wildlife and learn about the Santa Barbara Channel.

To depart the boat at Anacapa Island, you will need to climb 2-6 rungs on a ladder to move from the boat onto the pier. Then you will need to climb 157 steps from the dock to the island plateau. We will hike around 2 miles once on the plateau with relatively little elevation change. Please be sure you and your students can participate in these physical activities.

Once onshore, we will be guided by trained naturalists to learn about the unique natural and cultural resources found in Channel Islands National Park. There are plants and animals on these islands that are found nowhere else in the world.

You will pack your own food and drinks for lunch to eat on the island. There is no available water on the island so be sure to bring enough water. Everyone will reconvene at the pier for the return boat ride at 3:30 and we will arrive back at the Ventura Harbor around 4:45 PM.

Be prepared for variable weather and

potential motion sickness. Come

prepared by dressing in layers and

researching sea sickness strategies

best suited for your family.

Ticket cost:

  • Students $52.00
  • Chaperones $52.00

*The price for tickets paid with a credit card will be slightly higher due to the Ticketbud processing fee.

Heartland events are designed for families to attend together. Students need to be accompanied by an adult chaperone. If your student will be attending with another family, please let the field trip host know. Chaperones must be the legal parent or 25 years and older. All chaperones must be healthy, ethical people with the skills to be responsible adult chaperones.

**To ensure the health and safety of all attendees, please do not attend a field trip or event if you, your student(s), or anyone in your household is ill or showing possible signs of illness.**

Please read our refund policy!

Refunds will not be given for any reason. As a courtesy, if you are sick or unable to attend a field trip, please contact the teacher, who planned the event to let them know so they do not wait at the venue for you.* Families who are no-shows may lose access to future field trips.*

May I pay using my student's planning amount? Yes! You can pay for your student's ticket and one chaperone ticket with your student's planning amount. Reminder, only one chaperone ticket per family may be purchased using planning amounts. There are two steps to purchase tickets for field trips with your student's planning amount.

Step 1. Reserve your ticket on Ticketbud. Please select the "Student ticket paid with planning amounts through Procurify" and or "Chaperone ticket paid with planning amounts through Procurify" ticket options on Ticketbud. Complete the checkout process on Ticketbud. You will receive an email confirmation from Ticketbud once your order is complete. (If you do not receive an email please check your Spam folder.) This is the first step in reserving your tickets. Immediately after you receive confirmation from Ticketbud, you will move to step 2.

Step 2. Place an order for your tickets in Procurify. Search the name of this field trip in the Procurify catalog and complete your order just like you would for any other order. Your spot on this field trip will not be confirmed until you have placed your order in Procurify. Failure to place an order in Procurify within three days will result in being removed from the attendee list and having your funds manually deducted.

What are the check-in procedures? Check-in time is 8:45 AM with a strict 9:30 AM departure time. Monique will be checking families in on the right side of the building on the grassy patch. She will be wearing Heartland Charter School Apparel.

Does this trip have any height, weight, and/or age restrictions? This field trip is aimed at students in grades TK-12. Children under the age of 3 are not allowed to attend. Only two chaperones per family are allowed. If you purchase more than two chaperone tickets you will not receive a refund. Each person who attends a field trip or event must be registered through Ticketbud.

Is there on-site parking available? There is free public parking outside the Island Packers building. The space is not limited as the lot is large.

Can we pack snacks or lunch for this event or field trip? Yes. It is good to bring bubbly water and dry crackers to help fight off motion sickness. Be sure to pack a lunch to eat on the island and bring plenty of water.
