Join panelists Ashley Vaccaro (Gibson Dunn Senior Litigation Associate and Diversity and Mentorship Advocate), Denise Carter (Operations, Culture Management and Client & Employee Experienced Attorney and former JAMS Manager), and Sierra Elizabeth (as seen as a CNN Headline News guest legal correspondent, and Founder and CEO of “SuitKits by Sierra E”) for a discussion regarding facing internal adversity while practicing in the legal field, and lessons learned on how to overcome these hurdles and become your own best advocate.

 

The panel discussion will be followed by a mixer that will include a SuitKits by Sierra E fashion show (a custom-designed women's suit company).

Ashley Vaccaro

Ashley Vaccaro is a senior litigation associate practicing in Gibson Dunn & Crutcher’s Irvine office. Prior to joining Gibson Dunn, Ashley was an associate at Jenner & Block in Chicago. Her practice focuses on white collar investigations and related counseling, as well as general business litigation. She in an advocate for diversity, speaking on diversity-related topics at multiple events throughout the year. She is the President of OCCDL, is a Board Member of the Hispanic Bar Association of Orange County, is a member of OCBA’s Diversity Committee, and participates in Gibson Dunn’s Diversity Committee. She also feels that mentorship (and sponsorship) are wildly important for the progression of associates, especially in Orange County and especially for those with diverse backgrounds, and thus is actively involved in formal and informal mentoring. 

Denise Carter

Denise Carter is a lawyer and business professional focused on culture management and equity and inclusion. With over 20 years’ experience, Denise specializes in strengthening client and employee engagement, managing complex client and business relationships, and crafting effective corporate communications. Most recently, as General Manager for JAMS, Denise oversaw $16M in revenue for the largest private provider of alternate dispute resolution services worldwide, co-chaired the Communications Committee and served on the Diversity Committee. Her experience further includes developing high-performing teams and speaking on a variety of subjects. Denise is an active mentor and volunteer in Orange County and Los Angeles.

Sierra Elizabeth

Sierra Elizabeth is a Partner at Kirkland & Ellis with a wide-ranging complex commercial litigation practice with a particular focus on products liability and entertainment matters. When she’s not trying cases, you might catch her commentating on CNN Headline News as a guest legal correspondent. And if practicing law and appearing on television weren’t enough, she is also the Founder and CEO of “SuitKits by Sierra E”, an e-commerce website that allows women of all shapes and sizes to create custom suits and separates from the comfort of their own homes or offices.
