"Peony & Pine — Herbal Self-Care for Trans Folks" with Vilde Chaya (via ZOOM)
Whether we take hormones, pack, bind, get surgery, or are just trying to stay afloat in the cisheteropatriarchy, it can be hard to get the reliable health info we need to take good care of ourselves. The medical world and the internet often leave us with more questions than answers. This webinar gathers the best available science to offer accurate and practical information for trans folks on the ways we can be using herbs and foods to address a variety of health issues. We’ll discuss mental health, hormone therapy and other gender-affirming practices, and how plant medicines can be a safe, enriching and joyful friend to help us get through. We’ll make sure to leave lots of space for questions, and participants will leave with ready-to-use info on herbal medicines to try.
Vilde Chaya Fenster-Ehrlich is a community herbalist committed to accessible, inclusive herbal practice and education. She has been involved with organizing free, multi-modality clinics in Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Arizona for six years, and is presently a clinical herbalist at Stonefruit Community Herbalists and co-director of the Lake Effect Free Alternative Health Clinic. She sought out herbal medicine and grassroots health care as an ally in the resistance to systemic violence and oppression. Vilde is a queer trans lady from New York City, and has been offering herbal care and teaching classes for her trans community for years.
