SCVAS Field Trip: Drop in Birding (Charleston Slough)

Description:  We will be at the viewing platform which overlooks the slough between the hours of 9:00AM and 11:00AM to view our local birds as well as those that are still wintering here.


Directions:  From Hwy 101 in Mountain View take San Antonio Rd north to Terminal Way parking area. Walk a short distance (approximately 1/8 mile) inside the park to the viewing platform on the slough.


Highlights: Avocets, Mallards, Shovelers, Black-necked Stilts, Canada Geese, Cormorants, nesting Cliff and Barn Swallows, Sandpipers, as well as many other species.


Difficulty: We will be sitting and birding. This trip is open to all levels of birding, including families and beginners.


Notes: Binoculars available. For beginning birders but all are encouraged to attend. Kids ages 10+ are welcome.  Wheelchair accessible, rain cancels, bathroom facilities available.
