Directions: Meet at Paicines Store on Hwy 25. 

Highlights: Explore oak woodland and open grassland via back roads. Targets: Phainopepla, Mountain Bluebird, Prairie Falcon, Ferrugi- nous Hawk, Golden Eagle; other possibilities: Mountain Plover, Lark, Vesper and Rufous-crowned Sparrows, Greater Roadrunner, Chukar. 

Notes: Bring lunch and a full tank of gas; carpooling rec- ommended. We’ll eat at Panoche Inn. To pre-order a sandwich (rec- ommended), send choice of meat (turkey, ham, pastrami, chicken salad), cheese, and bread to ltjae- ger@att.net. Restrooms limited throughout trip.
