SCVAS Field Trip: Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve

Directions: From Hwy 101, take the Bailey Ave. exit and head west. Turn left on Santa Teresa Blvd. Continue for approx. 2 miles, then turn right on Palm Ave. Preserve will be at the end of the road.

Highlights: Explore grassland and Blue Oak woodlands, looking for Yellow-billed Magpie, orioles, kingbirds, and Golden Eagles.

Difficulty: We will explore the meadow for about ½ mile on a flat dirt path, then if time permits we will continue up the Arrowhead Loop trial to the overlook, about ¾ mile one-way. Trail to overlook is moderately strenuous.

Notes: Limit 20 participants. Kids ages 10+ are welcome

For all trips: Beginners welcome. Heavy rain cancels. Carpool if possible. Bring binoculars. No unaccompanied minors.
