High School Renewable Energy Camp

The Renewable Energy Camp will enhance understanding of renewable energy and demonstrate how to design, test, construct, fabricate, and present energy conversion and storage devices.

Space is limited to 20 campers. Please register early.

At camp, you will:

  • Interact with local experts to learn the principles of and conduct hands-on experiments with renewable energy conversion and storage devices like solar cells, supercapacitors, and lithium-ion batteries.
  • Work with a team to design, fabricate, and test energy conversion and storage devices, as well as analyze and present experimental results.

Camp details

Who: Students entering or in grades 9–12

When: July 18-22, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

Where: Hamline University's Saint Paul campus

Cost: $698 per person. The cost includes 5 lunches, lab materials and supplies, water bottle, and a T-shirt.

Deposit: $50 nonrefundable deposit for those who wish to be considered for a scholarship and $200 nonrefundable deposit for all other registrants.

Scholarships: Scholarships are available based on financial need and are awarded on a first come, first served basis. We are a participant in the Summer Academic Enrichment Program, which will cover the full camp tuition for those who qualify.

To apply, take a few minutes to fill out this form and obtain the following two documents from a school official that (1) you are income eligible for free or reduced price lunches, and (2) you have either an overall “C” average or its equivalent for the most recently recorded academic term for the subject of Science. Then you will send the two documents to Dr. Lifeng Dong at ldong03@hamline.edu at your earliest time.
