The Black Diamond

Manuel Donayre, “The Black Diamond”, a singing sensation with a distinctive, high pitched voice that has been taking the Afro-Peruvian musical culture to different stages and audiences.

The renowned Peruvian singer will be coming to Calgary on Sunday January 22nd at Dance Energy, 1305 33 St NE, Calgary, AB T2A 5P1.

The concert will feature special guests: the Peruvian-Canadian singer and guitarist, Felipe Alberto, as opening act. Felipe and his musicians will also be performing with Donayre on stage. Raíces del Perú, the Peruvian Dance group will be presenting exotic and colourful dances from the Andes, coast, and the jungle.

Donayre has been singing for 57 years. First began as a singer of boleros, but ultimately became a successful ambassador of the music of his ancestors. The singer has toured The Americas, Europe, and Asia. His most recent tour took place throughout 8 Japanese cities from December 28th, 2016 to January 8th, 2017.

Billboard described the Afro-Peruvian music as follows:

“A fusion of Andean folklore, Flamenco, and the frenetic rhythms that drive the Afro-cuban beat, black Peruvian music is a rich brew capable of satisfying audiences across the Latin and World-music spectrums.” – Billboard

It is a great opportunity to know more about the Peruvian musical culture and flavors. Prepare to fall in love with the Peruvian cuisine.

Manuel Donayre in Concert, a must-go event!
