Horse Saddle Rider Muscle Conditioning Essentials Webinar

Sunday, May 03, 2020

09:00 AM - 04:00 PM

Harwich

Harwich, UK

As progression from the Analysing Movement Module, Muscle Conditioning Essentials programme, this 1 day webinar session held on a Sunday has been created for equine paraprofessionals and competition riders that want to ultimately address the horse saddle and rider as a combination. It is being run in conjunction with a 3 hour online study module and consolidates the topics covered in this module. It will expand on concepts covered in the online lecture and give attendees an opportunity to engage and fully understand those concepts. An assignment will be set to increase understanding even further. It is possible to attend as CPD only.

Here is the link to the online study module which is a prerequisite to this practical session and must be completed beforehand: https://horse-saddle-rider-lab.thinkific.com/courses/muscle-conditioning

This is a unique horse-saddle-rider lecture combination presentation with Caroline Lindsay, Veterinary Physiotherapist, graduate Sports Therapist, qualified Saddle Fitter and certified clinical educator. The aim is to enhance the therapist's or saddle fitter's confidence in making assessments of the horse-saddle-rider combination as one unit, rather than only focusing on a single component of that combination.

The previous module and practical session consolidated learning how to visually analyse movement. The focus of this day will focus on the fundamentals of optimal muscle conditioning so that learners can further develop their eye for 'seeing' load in the horse and rider as a combination. Lecture content is highly applied so that the learner will soon be pinpointing strengths and weaknesses in the training of a variety of horses and riders so that they can begin to ultimately apply this knowledge to highlight when horses and riders need input on their conditioning programmes. This will form the basis for a later module which will cover postural analysis.

The online and offline presentations form a spiral learning experience, with related future presentations, towards the ultimate goal of proficient professional reasoning in the assessment and preparation of the modern sport horse and pony, together with their saddles and riders, for the improvement and sustainability of the competition partnership.

This presentation is the fourth module (including Equine Vocational Study Skills) in a series under development to progress learners towards performance preparation of horse, saddle and rider combinations. Manual techniques combined with ground schooling, rider stabilisation and saddle fit checking methods will ultimately qualify learners to make a practical contribution to the improvement and sustainability of horse, saddle and rider combinations. This qualification will ultimately lead to professional registration of graduates. Accreditation from Lantra has been granted and it is scheduled to be ready for enrolment in the Spring of 2020. Anyone successfully completing elements of the proposed course before enrolment will be given credit for recognition of prior learning. Learners are directed to also complete the 3 hour Equine Vocational Study Skills module which is free to participate in if they haven't already done so: https://horse-saddle-rider-lab.thinkific.com/courses/study-skills-for-equestrian-paraprofessionals/ .
