Conversational interfaces help extend your product’s reach and grow your brand. There’s a wide array of conversational opportunities: marketing, commerce, customer support, consumer apps, and enterprise apps. Whether you’re starting from scratch or building on decades’ worth of company knowledge, you can write conversational copy and craft conversational UI elements with a structure that supports rich experiences.
The workshop will demystify how machines understand humans and how designers can teach them to better anticipate user’s needs. You’ll gain a foundational knowledge of conversational design and hands-on experience implementing a conversational design process.

📋 What You’ll Learn
Walk out of the workshop with an end-to-end understanding of how to design content for conversational user interfaces (CUIs). In this workshop, you’ll learn:

This workshop is for designers, UX professionals, copywriters, content strategists, and product people who want to understand how to make their interfaces more intuitive through conversational design. A basic understanding of interface design and web technology is strongly recommended, but no programming knowledge is required.

She believes conversational interfaces and platforms have not yet reached their full potential and designers have a huge opportunity to address their user's needs better through conversational design. As CEO and Co-founder of Voxable, she helps companies and teams adopt conversational design practices and build robust conversational interfaces. She regularly writes, speaks, and facilitates workshops about conversational design.

FAQs

Where can I park?
There is free parking available around the TCEA building. If you cannot find spots near the front entrance, there is a larger lot around the backside of the building. 

Can I take the bus?
TCEA is about a 45-minute bus ride from downtown, and there are several route options. Check out the Capital Metro website to find your best bus route.

How do I get into the building?
Look for building B (marked on the doors of the building), and enter through the main doors. If you park on the backside of the building, you can enter from the back entrance. Doors will open at 9:00 AM when workshop registration begins. 

What should I bring?
While you will get the full benefit of this workshop without a laptop, we recommend you bring a laptop (don’t forget to charge it or bring your charger) if you would like to get hands-on experience with a natural language understanding (NLU) platform. We’ll provide worksheets and pens, but you may want to bring your own notebook if you like taking notes by hand.

Will there be food?
Lunch will be provided. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions when you purchase your workshop ticket. Coffee, tea, and water will also be available throughout the day.

How long is the workshop?
The conversational workshop takes place over an entire workday; it includes a mix of instruction and hands-on activities. Check out the schedule below:

11:00 AM - 11:15 AM - Morning break (0.25 hrs)
11:15 AM - 1:00 PM - Instruction and activities (1.75 hrs)

2:00 PM - 3:30 PM - Instruction and activities (1.5 hrs)

What is TCEA Conference Center?
TCEA (Texas Computer Education Association) is a global, nonprofit, member-based organization supporting the use of technology in education. The TCEA Conference Center is comprised of 15,557 square feet of meeting space along with large, open pre-function, reception, and break areas. It boasts a sleek, modern design and meeting spaces outfitted with the latest wireless Internet service and AV equipment. Located just down the road from the Austin airport and IH35, the facility includes a dedicated reception area, kitchenette, preparation kitchen, plenty of onsite parking, and a variety of meeting rooms to choose from.
