Event Description

Topic:  Transformation of Data

The concept of normality is essential for conducting many statistical tests. We often come across data sets that fail when tested for normality.  During this session, Larry Bartkus will demonstrate when and how to transform the data in order to achieve valid technical statistical analysis.  Examples of the danger of not transforming or improperly transforming the data will be reviewed. Tools such as power transformations like the Box-Cox Transformation will be included in the discussion.  Minitab software will be employed for the analysis and demonstrations.

By attending this clinic presentation, you will gain:

·         A full understanding of how normality impacts statistical tests and what tests are less impacted

·         The knowledge of why data sets fail normality

·         The ability to transform data when necessary and use normality testing methodology
