Hamline Young Writers Workshop Statement Regarding COVID-19
We are closely monitoring the constantly evolving circumstances around COVID-19. The health and safety of our young writers will always be the top priority of this event. At the moment, we have decided to continue planning as though we will be able to hold the workshop this June. We'll be checking in on the situation weekly. In the event of cancellation, all registrations will be refunded in full. Registration remains open. We'll continue to post updates here, the Hamline website, and all of our social media channels.
Thank you for your continued support of the Hamline Young Writers Workshop!
The Hamline Young Writers Workshop is a chance for high school students who are passionate about creative writing to explore the craft, prepare for college, connect with other young writers in the Twin Cities, and work closely with Hamline Creative Writing faculty and published authors.
Registration will be open until Friday, June 5.
Our schedule provides four extended days (June 15-18) on our beautiful Saint Paul campus, during which students will:
- Receive in-depth instruction/time with a published author in poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, or writing the college essay each day.
- Participate in afternoon elective courses in specific creative writing topics or college essay preparedness.
- Explore our "Literary Twin Cities" on a field-trip.
- Strengthen their sense of literary study and career paths through a panel discussion with published authors.
- Inspire their confidence as writers through a concluding community reading.
