The
Camden Lock, Rock and Around the Block Tour is a fantastic experience
taking you on a unique journey through some of Camden Town's
colourful history. Your tour guide, Dave was born and raised in
Camden and in the late 1970's through early 80's he was lead singer
and guitarist of a popular modern Rhythm'n'Blues band, regularly
gigging at venues such as The Marquee, 100 Club, Ronnie Scott's,
Camden's Dingwall's, Electric Ballroom and Music Machine (now called
Koko).
Unlike
many other tours which are often presented in a rather boring,
'facts, names and dates' way, Dave's natural story telling style
serves both to amuse and entertain as he takes you to many of the
most interesting and important locations, talking knowledgeably on
Camden's history and the extraordinary development of this wonderful
neighbourhood. You will be shown some of the best examples of street
art in London and he will explain the connections between railways,
canals, the characters and the music.
The
tour lasts between 90 to 120 minutes and the distance covered is
about a mile and a half (just over 2km), starting outside Chalk Farm
underground station (Northern Line) and finishing at Camden Lock via
the Regents Canal towpath.
