SOMATIC YOGA WORKSHOP - Mindfulness in Motion - March 2019

Red Cross Centre

Friday March 15th 2019 11:00 am –  1:00 pm

RELEASE PAIN | FEEL EMBODIED | FIND EASE | EXPERIENCE CALM | GENTLE | REMEDIAL | MINDFUL | PLEASANT | FREEING | EMPOWERING | DELIGHTFUL

These sessions benefit ALL and draw upon the therapeutic experiential bodywork of Thomas Hanna and Moshe Feldenkrais & work with healing modalities & perspectives on how trauma is stored in the body and creates pain, tension and illness ('The Body Keeps the Score' by Bessel Van Der Kolk & 'In an Unspoken Voice, Healing Trauma' by Peter Levine).

Somatic Yoga combines movement & mindfulness. We draw the awareness gently towards internal physical perception and sensory experience. This proves very therapeutic for the Central Nervous System. The class content is soft and gentle & takes place lying on the floor with the emphasis on improving the breath and experiencing slow, quiet, gentle movement patterns. This is a non-dogmatic, highly inclusive class that nourishes, soothes & re-connects the brain and the body: A wonderful way to experience a joyful easiness ‘in’ your own body.

Somatic Yoga is for everyone who wants to improve posture, release physical tension & explore embodied mindfulness.

It is ALSO welcoming & accessible for older people, people with ME / CFS & MS and for anyone recovering from injury, stress, overwhelm, burn-out, trauma, PTSD & ACE.

Emma Cole Senior Level RYT, BA Hons, draws upon a lifetime of connecting with & investigating the body as a Professional Dancer, Movement Explorer, Yoga Teacher, Somatic Mindfulness Practitioner & also by managing and healing her own experiences of PTSD, Chronic Fatigue, Inflammation & Depression through working somatically with the body.
