Weekly Hurley Making Demo & Tour

Scullion Hurls

Wednesday August 15th 2018 11:00 am –  4:30 pm

Taking place at 2pm every Wednesday from March, through to September.  Micheal Scullion will demonstrate the traditional craft of Irish Hurley Making where he will hand craft a traditional hurl or 'caman' explaining the tools and processes involved.  Participants will be welcomed into our workshop where Micheal will give a brief historical presentation on the history & origins of the ancient Irish sport of hurling and the craft of Hurley Making as well as how the Scullion Family became involved.

Participants will be given the opportunity to examine the materials and tools used as well as the hurl at its various stages of production.  There will also be opportunity to 'have a go' as Micheal will guide those willing in how to hone and shape the 'Ash' into a finely crafted hurl.

After the demonstration there will be a tour of the workshop and an opportunity to try out hitting a Sliotar or Hurling Ball into our radar speed cage!
