Event Description

Concerts at St. George's proudly presents the 2017 Friends of Music Concert Series, showcasing top Melbourne emerging musicians!

What is The COllaboration COnnection?

The Collaboration Connection was formed with the hope that we can give emerging contemporary musicians in Melbourne more opportunities to engage with their community. To provide a program that allows developing artists to work alongside established artists and their peers, to create new audiences for their original music projects and to develop connections that lead to a stronger capacity to network within the arts.
Not only does The Collaboration Connection aim to assist new artists in gaining visibility and industry reach in the local contemporary music scene, but also to provide another way for performing arts students and graduates to continue developing their skills in a supportive structure as they move toward the next phase of their journey as multifaceted artists.
We enjoy collaborating with other community initiatives and local performance venues, so we are delighted to be a part of the 2017 Friends of Music concert series at St. George's!

Joanna Kerr

Multifaceted, Melbourne based artist Joanna Kerr is a vocalist, songwriter/composer, curator and educator. A recent graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts, she continues to explore and hone her crafts as a musician, taking on a variety of performance projects, utilising her versatility in duo settings, larger ensembles, and experimental vocal groups. Whilst completing her Honours year at The University of Melbourne’s Conservatorium of Music, she was granted an MCM IgniteLab bursary for her project, The Collaboration Connection. With a keen ear and a penchant for melding her jazz training with pop sensibility, she adds to her prolific repertoire as a songwriter, working towards releasing her debut album. Her latest collaboration is with up and coming electronic artist and drummer, BARNARD. Her work will feature on a single to be released in the coming months.

STAV

Soulful and honest, alternative-folk singer songwriter STAV combines lyrical integrity with a natural affinity for guitar and intricate rhythms. The seamless arrangements are reminiscent of jazz, classical and folk music with bursts of innovative rhythmic fire. Her musicianship accentuates her compelling ability to tell a story in song. She sings in English, French and Hebrew about identity and social change. She released her debut album 'The Horizon Line' in 2016 with an East-Coast Australian tour and has since been performing in Barcelona, Israel and France as well as in Melbourne where she is currently based.

Erica Bramham

Poetic, inventive and uniquely personal, Erica Bramham is a vocalist, guitarist and composer from Melbourne, Australia. Part singer-songwriter, part improvising poet, she uses her songs as canvasses for lyrical ideas that evoke the senses and draw the listener through vivid narratives that are equal parts observation and imagination. Her debut album Twelve Moons was named on All About Jazz as one of the top releases of 2016, with critic Phil Barnes calling it “a fine record of forward looking modern vocal jazz” and signalling Bramham as a talent to watch. Erica is currently working on The Song-Chain Project, a year-long creative mission to write, record and share a song a day.  She also hosts and produces Mind Over Myth, a podcast that explores creativity through discussions with musicians, writers, artists and other creatives.

About the 2017 FOMS

Concerts at St. George's proudly presents the 2017 FOMS, showcasing top Melbourne emerging musicians!

Concerts at St. George's is voluntarily managed by a team of musicians with the vision to establish St. George’s Anglican Church in Travancore as a new music performance venue in Melbourne’s inner northwest. Aligned with this vision is the annual Friends of Music Series (FOMS), showcasing top Melbourne emerging musicians.

Your support for the local arts scene will be tremendously appreciated, with all proceeds from the 2017 FOMS concerts directly contributing to further enhancing the performance space at St. George's. The proceeds will also speak volumes for continuing the fundraising spirit for the Moonee Valley City community, and for continuing the vision for quality, affordable concert-going experiences for the local communities.

Stay tuned for more updates at www.concertsatstg.org!

The 2017 FOMS is proudly sponsored by GH Music.
