Maximizing Team Effectiveness in Your Organization

Hamline University Anderson Center Room 112

Thursday April 25th 2019 9:00 am –  1:00 pm

The ability to function in a diverse team is a critical skill in today’s workplace. Whether forming a new team, redirecting an underperforming team, or maximizing the performance of a good team, interpersonal and group dynamics can drastically change project outcomes. Despite the common understanding of the importance of effective teaming skills, research shows that only 5% of teams are truly considered to be high performing by team members and managers (3 Circle Partners).

In this session you will use the Belbin Team Role Inventory to learn your typical team behaviors and how you can best contribute to team progress towards goals and support effective relationships among team members. Team members will learn to emphasize the strengths each member brings, distinguish between allowable and disallowable weaknesses, and diagnose the source of common team challenges in order to maximize individual/team effectiveness and minimize common team dysfunctions. You will be given instructions for completing the Belbin Team Role Inventory when you register.

NOTE – Participants will need to register 2 weeks in advance (April 11) of the session in order to have time to complete their team inventory. This session is designed with the assumption you may be the only one from your organization participating. If you would like to use the Belbin Team Role Inventory to work with an intact team or department and work on issues specific to your organization, please contact us to discuss alternatives times and pricing.
