March 2023 Site Tour - Fountain Inn High School

Join CREW Upstate on a tour of Fountain Inn High School, a cutting edge facility with an emphasis on advanced manufacturing.

As an extension of our March topic on Construction Technology, we will be touring the new Fountain Inn High School, which features a project-based STEAM educational program coupled with an Advanced Manufacturing curriculum. These programs offer specialized training to meet the growing demand for high-paying manufacturing jobs in the Upstate and prepare high-achieving students for advanced degrees. The school's Institute of Automation and Engineering (IAE) lab offers state-of-the-art technology for CNC machining, robotics, metalworking, mechatronics, and engineering. We will even have a demonstration by the Robotics Team!

Our host and tour guide will be Matthew Irwin, Assistant Principal at FIHS. CREW's very own Stacey Brock with Steelcase partnered with Young Office to help Fountain Inn High School create a dynamic learning environment where students can actively engage and excel in learning. While Kelsey Kees of Young Office was the dealer designer and led the layout and design of the furniture solutions for this forward-thinking high school. The team leveraged a platform of resources from Steelcase to guide user groups through a process of evaluation and discovery – identifying both look and feel for this new, innovative school. It was a highly collaborative process done virtually (during COVID) with multiple design sessions and iterations generating a unique outcome used to teach and guide the next generation of leaders.

Directions from I-385: Take the Fairview Street Exit (Exit 24) and head North on Fairview, towards Fountain Inn. Continue on Fairview street until you reach Main Street (Hwy 14). Turn Left on Main Street. Take the Second Right off Main street to Quillen Avenue. Fountain Inn High School will be on your right.
